Who would have ever foreseen that phone calls would be thought of as obsolete? People now prefer video calls instead of phone calls.
Several books can now be read in an electronic page. Even electronic mail is not fast enough – you use Facebook mobile instead to get in touch with someone at practically real time. Buttons and cursors are now out-of-date, hence the popularity of touchscreens. And they can all be found in the 4th Gen iPhone or 4G iPhone.
This sudden revolution started when Steve Jobs changed the multimedia world with his ingenious work of the iPhone. The iPhones features werent developed overnight, but neither did it require an entire era. It needed less than three years to be accurate.
The 4G iPhone is a sleek multimedia communication device.
First of all, its basic features were all overhauled to double its performance from the previous version. Processor speed of 600 MHz is now 1 GHz and RAM has increased from 256 MB to 512 MB. These improvements though would be quite necessary to handle the 4G iPhones heavily modified media features.
The FaceTime video call application is complemented with a 5 megapixel dual cameras with 5X digital zoom, a LED flash, and dual noise-cancelling microphones.
The 4G iPhone’s impressive “Retina Display”is a 3.5-inch LED-backlit display with a 800:1 contrast ratio and a high resolution of 960×640 at 326 ppi. Simply put, the display is so fine that it surpasses the capability of the human eye to see the pixels from a 12 inch distance.
Some features of the iPhone 3GS were of course incorporated as well, such as Wi-Fi, A-GPS, Bluetooth, and digital compass. Battery life was also increased too by about 1 to 2 hours longer on all usage, from talk time, multimedia use, and internet use.
Unfortunately, the 300 hours standby time wasn’t increased as well.
The latest edgy look is designed in order to increase the signal capacity of the 4G iPhone. The stainless steel band surrounding its sides acts as external antennas. Its smooth front and back cover is made of “aluminosilcate” glass.
There are two types of 4G iPhones: iPhone 4 (GSM) and iPhone 4 (CDMA). The CDMA came out after many users complained that the signal fluctuates from the “death grip”. The phone apparently loses its signal if you hold it at a particular angle.
That is why this version is quite the same except for a few changes in the button placements and antenna. The price range of the phone is US$300 for the 32 GB model, which is similar to the prices of Apples past phones when newly released.
